#TIEDAYFRIDAY on 4th October 2024 was another great success thanks to the generosity of the people of the Kingdom who donated over €13,000 to Kerry Mental Health Association.
School children, students, teachers as well as office, remote, hybrid and outdoor workers of all ages were asked to wear a tie, post a picture on social media and donate to www.KerryMentalHealth.ie/donate.
One of the main events on the day saw over 80 people attend a business breakfast event in Tralee aimed at tackling anxiety in the workplace.
70 fitness enthusiasts also participated in an early morning exercise disco hosted by trainer George Bastible at John Mitchels GAA Club, Tralee with €700 going towards the overall total.
Proceeds from all the events on #TieDayFriday, now in its 4th year, will help cover the cost of rolling out free and affordable mental health educational activities and other relevant supports throughout the county.
The General Manager of Kerry Mental Health Association, John Drummey, said, “We wish to thank everyone who donated or sponsored events on #TieDayFriday as their generosity will help us to support people in Kerry with mental health challenges, their families and friends. covering a range of projects. Our new three-strategy will focus on reminding the general public that Kerry Mental Health Association is central to promoting mental health and wellbeing in the county. It will also work towards revitalising our volunteer network, fundraising and education, training and housing activities to 2027.”
#TieDayFriday will return in 2025 while the actual date of the fundraiser and the associated promotional events to be staged on the day are currently being considered.
The immediate attention turns towards the Christmas period when Kerry Mental Health Association will distribute thousands of euros in shopping vouchers to mental health clients throughout the county.
